The team conducted field visits to three leading French manufacturers, gaining in-depth insights into three development models: century-old family operation, specialized industrial focus and full-channel supply chain system. This trip serves as a practical cooperation bridge between China and Europe to support the global expansion and high-quality upgrading of China's edible fungi industry.
The delegation’s first stop was SABAROT WASSNER SAS, founded in 1819 with a history of over 200 years. Now managed by its 7th-generation heir, the enterprise has specialized in food ingredients for 45 years. Its mushroom portfolio covers wild forest fungi including morels and boletus as well as artificially cultivated mushrooms. Supported by three core processing technologies — dehydration, quick-freezing and canning & pickling — it has built a complete deep processing system. In terms of French consumption features, while fresh mushrooms have steady market demand, local residents prefer dried and canned mushroom products, creating an extremely solid market base for processed edible fungi.

The second visit was paid to BORDE SAS, established in 1920 and a European leader in deep processing of wild edible fungi. It also develops deep-processed mushroom products such as dried mushrooms, canned goods and freeze-dried items. Unlike Sabarot’s diversified business model, BORDE SAS focuses solely on edible fungi without expanding into other vegetable categories. It stands out for specialization and refinement, with profound experience accumulated in wild mushroom sourcing, standardized production and export supply.

[Consumer Insight]: European markets, especially France, have long-term stable daily demand for deep-processed mushroom products including dried, canned and freeze-dried varieties. Compared with fresh mushrooms only, complete deep processing capacity and strict high-standard quality control systems are the core credentials to enter Europe’s high-end market.
The third visited enterprise, CHAMPILAND, is a core supplier for France’s catering, food manufacturing and retail sectors. Its distribution network fully covers catering establishments, food processing factories and offline retail outlets with strong market penetration.
